Welcome to M3ZerO the innovative new Packaging System that will make your business more environmentally friendly and profitable at the same time.
M3 HOLDINGS LIMITED has developed an innovative Integrated Packaging System that will revolutionise the way in which key horticulture exports like Apples and Kiwi Fruit are exported.
It is a clean green reusable system that will significantly reduce current packaging waste in major global retail supply chains.
To reduce recycling and eliminate the impact that waste has on the environment making our world and our businesses more sustainable and profitable.
Making M3ZrO available to environmentally conscious companies who want to:
- Provide a totally GREEN packaging system for products direct to retailers and consumers that helps solve packaging waste, recycling and landfill issues.
- Set a new Green Operating Standard in supply chains.
- Optimise the amount of produce carried and energy expended in transportation.
- Reduce the cost of getting product to our Global Market.
M3ZrO is a bundled Intellectual Property Packaging System designed to:
- Reduce harmful waste.
- Optimise transportation.
- Reduce cost.
- Promote sustainability.
- Reduce CO2 emissions.
- Deploy M3-Smart loading and unloading palletizing system.
- Reduce labour and lower handling damage.
Governments, Global retailers and even Consumers around the world are demanding a reduction in packaging wastes that require a change.
- Key Retailers in the EU and USA are no longer accepting produce in cardboard cartons. In the UK retailers have replaced cardboard cartons with delivery in a reusable plastic crate system that they provide. M3 will go even further by removing the packaging waste right back to the source and start of the supply chain.
- Wal-Mart Sustainability:
- Wal-Mart will no longer except deliveries of produce in cartons, suppliers have been forced to use re-useable plastic trays supplied by Chep.
- “Wal-Mart is implementing more sustainable business processes, reaching from their supply chain to their CO2 emissions.”
- ASDA (large UK retailer) unveils first “zero waste to landfill” supermarket (25.10.06). ASDA has since initiated trials to sell “loose” fruit in the stores, demonstrating their will to change.
- Movies like ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ narrated by Al Gore will continue to awaken the world of business to the realities of the need to change what we do and how we do it.
- The Stern Report Forecasts the Economic Impact at 5-20% of Global GDP.
In one of the boldest moves yet the EU Parliament voted in favour of waste prevention and reuse over recycling and incineration.
- In a vote on 13 February, the European Parliament gave an overwhelming backing to proposed waste legislation supported by its Environment Committee in November last year (EurActiv 29/11/06). The main provisions of the reports include:
- The introduction of a five-step waste ‘hierarchy’ that gives priority to prevention, reuse and recycling over landfills - M3ZrO will target waste prevention perfectly!
- EU waste-prevention targets to stabilise waste production by 2012 to the level produced in 2008, and for waste production to start declining from 2020.
The M3 System will take cost out of the existing packaging, transportation and shipping of the 4.8m tonnes of Apples shipped annually around the world 320,000 Tonnes from New Zealand alone mostly to the EU will realise significant savings from the following cost reductions:
- Replacing the current one trip throw away cardboard packaging.
- Road Transportation as the M3 System packs up to 40% more product in the same space.
- Reefer Containers and Reefer Vessel Shipping as M3 packs 40% more product in the same space.
- No entry Taxes on waste packaging into EU or USA. This currently represents approximately EU€650 per container or EU€0.025cents per Kg of Apples entering the market in cardboard cartons as M3 packaging is re-useable eco-friendly.
- No cost to remove the cardboard waste from re-packaging and retailers in the EU or USA.
- Labour reduction in packing and unpacking.
In addition to this as the market moves more and more into retail packaging with Retail Display Trays (RDT’s) M3 has a range of retail ready packing to go such as biodegradable PLA (Polylactic Acid - a polymer made from natural sugar sources eg. Corn Starch), Pocket Packs and 4 Pack clamshells etc. These can all be pre-packed at the originating pack-house and packed onto the M3 tray system with no re-packing required at the final destination.
M3 also offers the ultimate green, Direct-Into-Store merchandising solution of retail-store-ready pallets that will assist retailers who are ready to change and meet challenges of Climate Change like ASDA’s “loose” fruit trials.
In addition to all the other M3ZrO benefits, M3ZrO will reduce CO2 emissions by reducing deforestation and a reduction in CO2 emissions in the manufacturing, transportation and waste recycling of existing forms of fibre based packaging.
M3ZrO has been tested and key growers are now ready to move to the next stage of commercial development and implementation.
